Apply for SSI

How to Apply for SSI benefits

The application process for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is the same process for Social Security Disability Benefits. It is important that you apply for both SSI and SSD if you potentially qualify. The Social Security Administration will determine what types of benefits you are eligible for.

Apply with or without assistance of an attorney

To apply for benefits call the Social Security Administration, apply online, visit your local Social Security Office or call 888-572-1164 to speak with an attorney. You may apply with or without the assistance of an experienced attorney. An attorney may be able to help you navigate through the confusing process of applying for Social Security Benefits. If you have questions regarding the SSI application please call our office. We will answer your questions at no cost to you.

It is important for your Social Security case and especially for your Supplemental Security Income case that you answer all of the Social Security application questions fully and truthfully. At our office, we can help you to answer these questions.

When to Apply for Social Security Benefits

If you become disabled and will be unable to work or your disability is life threatening, do not hesitate to apply for Social Security Benefits. The process for receiving SSI monthly payments and benefits can take a long time. It is important that you begin the application process early so that you can begin receiving benefits such as monthly payments and medical care.

How long does it take for a decision?

You should receive a decision on your Supplemental Security Income Claim in about 3 to 5 months from the date of your application.
