How to Have Your Hearing Expedited
It's no secret that the recession has had a serious impact on the economy. Many people are finding that their money just isn't going as far as it used to. For many people with medical impairments, making ends meet can be a challenge — even if they have worked hard all of their lives.
If you are facing financial trouble, it may be possible to ask the government to speed up your hearing. Getting your Social Security Disability hearing expedited can be difficult, but it is possible.
Filing a Dire Need Request
If your financial circumstances are serious, you may be able to send a "dire need" request to the Office of Adjudication and Review where your hearing is waiting to be scheduled. You may be able to have your hearing expedited for certain reasons:
- If you are in danger of being evicted
- If you cannot make mortgage payments and are in danger of foreclosure
- If you may not be able to pay for important medications
- If you have utilities shut off
You should attach copies of late notices from landlords, or other important notices from banks and utilities providers to your letter.
